Holiday World, aware that one of the main attractions to guarantee the success of its tourist activities is respect for the environment and the nature surrounding us, has started up a new project, which has been baptised as ‘ECO HOLIDAY’.
‘ECO HOLIDAY’ is more than a concept. It is the element that inspires all of our environmental actions and good practices at Holiday World. Its main objective is the
definition, development and implementation of corrective cost control measures. These permit personalised analysis of the electric facilities at the establishments, as well as functional control and action instructions that lead to reduced energy consumptions. Furthermore, they identify the organisation’s commitment to performing environmental management that is adapted to nature, the size and the impact deriving from our activity.
Due to this, Holiday World management in this area starts from the very beginning, with supplies by reducing packaging, the use of biodegradable and recyclable products and managing other equally contaminating aspects, such as minimising noise and vibrations generated both inside and outside, trying to maintain optimal acoustic levels. Another important aspect is the control of emissions of discharges and substances into the atmosphere, which are always within the established legal framework.
By way of example of the environmental policy implemented at Holiday World, there are numerous and novel measures implemented at our establishments in line with this principle, mainly at the recently opened HOLIDAY POLYNESIA:
With regard to electricity
- Access keys through special lighting circuits for repairs and cleaning (service), thus preventing connections with other circuits with greater loads.
- Maximisation of lifts and service lifts.
- Air conditioning / heating through the VRV system that works by gas. This system, besides being cleaner, also reduces water consumption.It also lets us work with up to a minimum of 9 rooms in heat and cold, without needing large-consumption central coolers.
- Movement detectors; presence detectors for turning on appliances and lights.
- Twilight detectors for light activation in accordance with decreased sunlight.
- Low consumption lighting (including decorative down-lighting and halogen lamps).
- Motorisation in fountains, room lighting and smoke, as well as swimming pools on timers.
- Building equipped with roofs and curtain walls that allow natural light to enter.
With regard to water:
- Recycling of deck water
- Ecological drip irrigation, and not by sprinklers, allowing for significant energy savings.
With regard to hot water:
- Installation of thermal solar plates (guarantees a minimum of 60% of production)
- Heating by Gas Natural, using energy efficient systems
With regard to acoustics:
- Generalised soundproofing through anti-impact floors and sound membranes in shops, premises and rooms.
- Specific sound conditioning for performance stages.
